Our Story

Merle N. Smarr, Jr., known to many as Mel, opened Smarr Excavating March 1, 1985. Remsel Corporation was founded on May 9, 1989. Mel has been in business in Columbia MO for over 30 years, making the Construction Business his life-long passion and priority. Along with Remsel Corporation, he also founded CLEL Containers Corporation, Ri-Mor Topsoil, Ri-Mor Mulch, Highway 63 Storage, and MO-Ri Holding. His past business adventures include; Precision Precast, Houston Heavy Equipment.

John Dometrorch joined the team in 2014 as Operations Manager offering 45 plus years of experience. John specializes in Commercial Construction, Residential Construction and Farm Conservation. The reputation of Remsel Corporation is based on the longevity of its dedicated employees along with competitive pricing and quality services.
